Beagle training sometimes requires a little bit ore equipment that just a treat or a clicker. This comes especially true when it comes to leash training your beagle. Leash training is training your beagle to follow you on the leash instead of pulling you in every direction.
Leash pulling is one the biggest problems many dog owners face because they misunderstand what causes leash pulling. The misconception is that beagles pull you in a certain direction because they are trying to lead you or be dominant.
Having this point of view when it comes to leash training is what leads to wrong action on the owners part. They assume that they should instead show their dominance and the best way to do it is to limit the walks as a punishment for the beagle.
This however won’t help stop leash pulling at all, in fact it will only make your beagle pull on the leash even more! As you probably already know, beagle has a really strong sense of smell and when they go out on a walk they can smell several different tracks and due to their natural instincts, they want to follow those tracks to find out what made them.
So when you limit walks, the want and need of tracking down scent in your beagle only grows stronger, cause him to pull on the leash even more!
The best way to deal with a beagle that pulling on a leash is to go through beagle dog training and having regular walks so they are more relaxed when you do go out on walks.
